UAE's Maryam Matar Wins Arab Woman Award In Healthcare Innovation

Dr. Maryam Matar, founder and chairwoman of the UAE Genetic Diseases Association, has been named the pioneering Arab Woman in Healthcare Innovation for 2019.

This was announced during the ceremony of the 21st Pioneer Leadership Award in Healthcare which was held recently in Kuwait.

Dr. Matar was honoured for her initiatives in enabling communities and individuals susceptible to genetic disorders and for devising innovative tools that are suitable for the different challenges and local social conditions.

Dr. Matar is an enthusiastic and dedicated medical researcher who is a source of inspiration to everyone. She is a tireless advocate of public education and awareness about genetic disorders. With her team of researchers, she has worked on charting the genetic map of the UAE’s inhabitants.

Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance, congratulated Dr. Matar, saying she was a source of pride to the UAE.
