Treasurer's Summit Puts Future Finance Leaders In The Spotlight

Organised by the Association of Corporate Treasurers (ACT), the summit is aimed at finance professionals and treasurers, and open to non-members of the association

With just weeks to go before the eleventh edition of the annual Middle East Treasurers Summit, 1 – 2 October at Dubai’s Madinat Jumeirah, the organisers have announced additional features to the programme. Organised by the Association of Corporate Treasurers (ACT), the summit is aimed at finance professionals and treasurers, and open to non-members of the association.

One example is the addition of a C-suite strategy session led by the ACT’s Chief Executive, Caroline Stockmann. Apart from offering participants food for thought, the panel will discuss the changing role of the CFO, including how it’s become more strategic and innovative, as well as more closely aligned to tech and data infrastructure within organisations.

Ms Stockmann said: “As companies and organisations in the region aim to align their operating strategies with the national policies and ambitions of countries like the UAE and Saudi Arabia, including increasing employment opportunities for Nationals and leveraging the invaluable pool of female talent, the event will seek to understand how these goals can be accelerated through the experiences of our expert panelists.”

The participants are drawn from some of the region’s most visible and dynamic companies including Matthew Hurn, CFO of Mubadala’s Alternative Investment and Infrastructure Company, Paolo Lo Monaco, CFO of Chalhoub Group and Tariq Sanad, CFO of Fetchr.

They will also share their personal reflections on how they moved to C-suite positions, offering guidance to the aspiring C-suite of tomorrow.

The event will also look at other critical issues, especially global trends that will have an increasing impact on the Gulf region, such as green finance

As guardians of the balance sheet, treasurers will be keen to hear more about the value of developments in technology, superior data management and digital treasuries. Insights on the future role of Fintech, AI and Robotics will add to over 14 hours of forward-looking panel debates and plenaries.

Working capital is another theme of the ACT summit. With all companies and organisations keen to protect cash reserves and liquidity, understanding the latest trends on working capital management will be a major draw.
The two-day event is preceded by the ACT’s own “Oscars”, with the ACT Middle East Treasury Awards being presented on the eve of the summit, on 30 September.
