TRA Participates In Mobile World Congress 2019
The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, TRA, has participated in the annual World Mobile World Congress, which is being held in Barcelona until 28th February. The TRA delegation, headed by Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, TRA Director-General, aims to review latest development in the telecom world, as well as meeting with senior officials, experts, and specialists in the field from around the world.
Commenting on this participation, Al Mansoori said, "This conference is the largest annual gathering of experts, manufacturers and operators of mobile telecom networks, as well as mobile phone manufacturers, and companies specialised in financial, commercial and business mobile services. It is an annual competitive meeting between major players in the global telecom industry."
Al Mansoori added, "5G networks will be one of the main topics in this year’s edition as it will play a key role in transforming the world into a new era of smart telecommunication, IoT, big data, and AI. Moreover, 5G is expected to attract more than US$2.2 trillion of investments over the next 15 years. It will also help connecting more than one billion new people online through smart phones within a few years, and accelerating the adoption of development solutions based on smart applications in many areas such as agriculture, transportation, education, health and others. This will lead to raising the global wellbeing and achieving the greatest happiness of mankind, since as usual, under the directives of our wise leadership, the UAE is keen to follow the latest technologies and developments in the telecom world, and contribute to the development of plans, solutions, and decisions that will serve the telecom sector in the UAE, the region and worldwide."
Noting the importance of such events in meeting the top decision-makers and experts in the relevant field, TRA Director-General said, "This event is a good opportunity to meet world leaders of the telecom industry, including officials, operators and manufacturers."
"During the conference, we will meet a number of ministers and officials to discuss ways to enhance cooperation and exchange of experiences in the ICT field, in addition to meeting officials from international organisation s and major global ICT companies to discuss the new cooperation channels and ICT solutions in the UAE. We will also showcase our experience in the field, as the UAE is one of the top countries in ICT that is leading the global race towards the age of AI and Fourth Industrial Revolution," he added.
The World Mobile World Congress is the world’s leading annual event for mobiles and related industries on a global level. The event is organised by GSMA the international mobile network association, with the participation of around 2400 international companies, and more than 107,000 decision-makers, experts, international organisation s and global telecom companies.
