Talabat Announces Community Continuity Plan For Small & Medium Restaurants Across The UAE
Including commission deferral and onboarding fee waivers
Talabat, the region’s leading food and grocery delivery platform, has announced a community continuity plan to extend further support, including wide-spread commission deferrals and fee waivers, to eligible restaurant partners in the UAE, as they attempt to navigate these uncertain times.
This initiative aims to support the cash flow of 4500 small and medium size restaurants on Talabat’s platform in the UAE, who play an important role in terms of variety and choice and represent a large portion of the restaurant community overall.
The plan brings financial relief to the majority of our restaurant community focusing on improving their cash flow situation through a temporary - full or partial - deferral of commission fees.
In addition, all renewal fees are deferred as well, while new restaurants will be onboarded to the Talabat platform, free of charge.
Both commission and renewal deferrals will have a six-month payment plan. Based on market conditions, Talabat will reevaluate the plan in May.
Muhammed Yildirim, Managing Director of Talabat UAE, believes that this initiative will help restaurants in keeping their business going.
‘In these challenging times, we have set ourselves two very clear objectives. First, we have the responsibility to ensure we do everything possible to keep everyone safe and healthy. Secondly, we need to ensure business continuity - for everyone in our ecosystem, including our restaurant partners, and particularly the smaller ones.
‘A study by JP Morgan Chase has shown that small to medium size restaurants on average have a very small cash buffer of about 16 days. By deferring commission fees with a 6-month payment plan, we are helping restaurant partners to keep on going.
‘We are doing this on top of making weekly payments and many other things we have already been doing for weeks for our restaurant community.
‘We are in this together. Our futures are interlinked, and we want to show solidarity with our community and we will obviously continue to assess the situation as it evolves.’
For the residents and citizens of UAE, buying from your local restaurants to ensure their survival was vital, Yildirim explained.
‘As our customers know, we’ve already waived delivery fees based on their proximity to local restaurants, to ensure they are getting the best value for money, and supporting their local favourites. Through giving patronage to these favourites, customers are helping them in their fight for survival.
We 100% encourage supporting your local restaurants, and are calling on the wider UAE community to do so!’
