Sharjah Museums Showcase Aesthetics Of UAE Heritage
Emirati Muna El Khajah reflects heritage through art
Over the course of seven months, an impressive collection of artworks portraying Emirati culture aesthetics and designs, are on display at the Sharjah Heritage Museum, part of the Sharjah Museums Authority (SMA).
Inspired by the architectural heritage of the country, Emirati artist Muna Al Khajah’s 14 paintings, communicate UAE heritage, customs and culture to visitors.
Exquisite decorations on doors, windows, walls, and mashrabiya facades of traditional heritage buildings stand out in the artists’ works, which also illustrate UAE architectural plasterer art, local environment, and women’s accessories, as well as Islamic values and heritage of the country.
Organizing the exhibition comes in line with SMA’s strategy to showcase the country’s heritage through modern art, and to develop residents and tourists’ knowledge of UAE's rich history.
Harmony: Aesthetics of Ornamentation in Emirati Heritage Exhibition, or Tawafoq in Arabic, is a unique blend of UAE heritage, history, and art, portrayed through the eyes of one of the most prominent local artists.
“The Sharjah Museums Authority continues to promote local and regional art and artists. It is delighted to organize and host the exhibition of art work by Muna Al Khajah," said Manal Ataya, Director General of SMA.
She added that Emirati artist Muna El Khajah, who is a member of Emirates Fine Arts Society and the UAE Art Curriculum Committee, was chosen as part of the authority’s goals to highlight and celebrate the aesthetics of Emirati heritage in all its forms.
The exhibition which was inaugurated at the Sharjah Heritage Museum on January 16, will be on display until August 14.
