In celebration of World Heritage Day on April 18, Sharjah Museums Authority (SMA) is presenting “Cultural Convergence Between the United Arab Emirates and the People’s Republic of China” at the Sharjah Heritage Museum.

This event aims to illuminate the rich cultural connections between the UAE and China through an array of activities, workshops, musical performances, and artistic showcasesfrom 4:30 pm to 9 pm.

Located in Heart of Sharjah, opposite the traditional Souq Al Arsah and adjacent to the historic Bait Al Naboodah, the event offers visitors a unique portal to explore Emirati heritage and immerse themselves in its customs and traditions.

The chosen venue, symbolizing the essence of Sharjah's spirit, becomes a focal point for international visitors drawn to discover the legacy of Emirati culture.

The initiative underscores SMA's commitment to fostering cultural dialogues with China. By highlighting the shared and distinct aspects of Emirati and Chinese heritages, the event seeks to promote cultural understanding, collaboration, and the role of cultural exchange in advancing global peace.

Among the highlights are activities that cater to all ages and interests, including face painting featuring Emirati and Chinese motifs, storytelling sessions of proverbs from both cultures, and interactive quizzes on heritage.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to engage in Arabic and Chinese calligraphy, enjoy traditional Emirati and Chinese musical performances, and participate in educational workshops designed to celebrate and explore the rich tapestry of both cultures.

Reflecting on the common cultural themes such as traditional arts, literature, attire, and hospitality, the event aims to deepen mutual appreciation and forge stronger cultural ties. It serves as a testament to the importance of cultural exchange in enriching societies and promoting cooperation in cultural and social heritage preservation.

As communities across the globe unite to mark World Heritage Day, the Authority focuses on celebrating the shared heritage between the UAE and China not only by showcasing the cultural wealth of both nations but also by emphasizing the importance of heritage preservation for future generations, cultural tourism, and international cooperation.

Sharjah Heritage Museum, an emblem of the region's historical and social fabric, invites the public to explore the authentic Emirati heritage it preserves.

Open daily from 8am to 8pm and on Fridays from 4pm to 8pm, the museum offers a great chance to engage in the rich heritage of Sharjah and the Emirati culture, with a focus on Sharjah residents’ lifestyle over the past decades.
