Sharjah Chamber Holds Commemorative Event For India's 78th Independence Day, Reaffirms Its Commitment To Supporting Indian Business And Professional Council

The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting and empowering the Indian Business and Professional Council to effectively represent Indian investors and businessmen in the emirate.

The Chamber aims to enhance the Council's role in fostering a dynamic business environment by opening new channels for business networking, communication, and partnerships that benefit the Indian and Emirati private sectors in both nations. The Sharjah Chamber also seeks to leverage this collaboration to advance its strategic objectives, expanding and deepening bilateral cooperation across all key sectors.

This announcement was made during a special commemorative event organised by the Sharjah Chamber to celebrate the achievements of the Indian Business and Professional Council, operating under its umbrella, in coincidence with India's 78th Independence Day.

The meeting was attended by H.E Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman ofSCCI, and H.E Satish Kumar Sivan, Consul General of India in Dubai and the Northern Emirates.

Also present were H.E. Mohammad Ahmed Amin Al Awadi, Director-General of SCCI; Abdulaziz Shattaf, Assistant Director-General of the Communication and Business Sector at SCCI; Fatima Khalifa Al Muqarrab, Director of the SCCI's International Relations Department, and Lalu Samuel, Chairman of the Indian Business and Professional Council in Sharjah, as well as other council members.

During his welcoming remarks, H.E. Abdallah Sultan Al Owais extended his congratulations to the members of the Indian Business Council on India’s Independence Day. He underscored that the Sharjah Chamber is keenly aware of the significance of business councils and is committed to supporting and expanding their role in boosting economic impact and fostering stronger economic ties.

He noted that the Indian Business and Professional Council plays a pivotal role in enhancing collaborative relationships between the business communities of both Sharjah and India.

The Council serves as a vital platform for fostering communication and the exchange of information and expertise among private sector representatives and investors from both nations. It equips them with valuable insights to better understand market dynamics, explore available investment opportunities, and forge new partnerships and investments that support sustainable economic development in both countries.

For his part, H.E Satish Kumar Sivan expressed his gratitude to the Sharjah Chamber for hosting the business meeting in coincidence with India’s Independence Day. He regarded this as a testament to the strong ties between India and the UAE, highlighting the vast potential for promoting trade and investment exchange between the two countries in the coming years.

Lalu Samuel emphasised that the Indian Business and Professional Council has successfully established sustained communication between Emirati and Indian business leaders, enabling them to explore promising investment opportunities in both nations.

He noted that India's large consumer market is a significant draw for investments across multiple sectors, whereas the UAE, particularly Sharjah, offers a competitive and attractive infrastructure for Indian investments in various industries.

The ceremony’s agenda included a presentation on the accomplishments of the Indian Business and Professional Council in Sharjah, as well as panel discussions and networking sessions between Emirati and Indian business leaders.

These side meetings facilitated the exchange of experiences and insights into the potential avenues of expanding trade and investment cooperation between the two nations. They also highlighted the wide array of investment opportunities and facilitations available to Indian companies in the emirate of Sharjah, with a particular focus on sectors such as energy and maritime services and industries.
