NBC organises 3rd Social Media Influencers Forum
The forum aims at supporting and promoting the services of the incubated companies at NBC and Riyada to various segments of the society through the Omani social media influencers
The National Business Centre (NBC), an initiative of the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates – Madayn, organised yesterday (Tuesday) the 3rd Social media Influencers Forum at the Knowledge Oasis Muscat. The forum aims at supporting and promoting the services of the incubated companies at NBC and Riyada to various segments of the society through the Omani social media influencers.
Speaking at the event, Nasser Al Malki, Director General of NBC, briefed the audience on the vision of NBC in offering promising Omani entrepreneurs a platform to develop their business ideas and advance them into growing ventures. He also pointed out the objectives of NBC which include facilitating and supporting the growth of investable ideas into successful businesses; building entrepreneurial skills through dedicated and focused training, coaching and mentoring; and providing business support facilities from office space, administrative support, financial support and consultancy services that are crucial in ensuring the success and survival of new ventures.
On her part, Houda Al Battashi, Director of Admin and Financial Affairs at NBC, commented that NBC, which operates under Madayn, aims to create a supportive environment for the development and growth of SMEs and reduce failure chances in the first three years of their inception. “The centre plays a role in sustaining the success of the incubated companies through developing the owners of these companies at practical and personal levels,” Al Battashi pointed out.
She added that the gathering of the social media influencers stems from the fact that they play a role in disseminating awareness in certain topics through their own accounts or the accounts of the various initiatives they manage. “It is important to employ social media to support the incubated and graduated companies from NBC in particular and the SMEs in Oman in general, which shall contribute in stimulating the growth of local businesses and advancing the national economy,” Al Battashi added.
A successful story of a graduated company from NBC was then shared with the audience. Hilal Al Rawahi, founder of Al Salama Fire Engineering Consultancy, stated that the company was established in 2014 to be one of the consultancies that are registered and approved by the civil defence. The company is specialised in designing buildings to meet the requirements of fire hazard prevention adopted by the Directorate General of Civil Defence along with NFPA codes which are used for life safety and protection of buildings from fire loss.
