MoHAP Reveals Its Plans For Providing Best Medical Services For Pilgrims During Hajj Season

The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) announced the departure of the medical mission to Saudi Arabia to accompany the UAE’s hajj official mission.

The medical mission consists of 70 doctors, nurses, and administrators.

The medical mission will be providing the entire healthcare services and offering preventive and medical advice for pilgrims.

Database for Pilgrims and Medical Team for Rapid Intervention

Dr. Abdul Karim Abdullah Al Zarouni, Director of MoHAP’s Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Operations Center and Head of MoHAP’s Hajj Medical Mission, explained that the preparatory mission arrived in Saudi Arabia on July 25.

Al Zarouni pointed out that the medical staff comprises specialized competencies which have been trained to provide medical and emergency services and to follow up with patients with chronic diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, and heart, as well as to provide them with the appropriate quantities of medicines.

Al Zarouni also shed light on the adoption of a sophisticated electronic system to enhance health services for pilgrims and the availability of a database of pilgrims, that facilitates the medical team’s job to intervene quickly in emergencies, and the preparation of daily medical reports on the health status of each pilgrim.

Badr Ahmed Al-Najjar, Rapporteur of Hajj Medical Mission pointed to organizing various educational programs for pilgrims in terms of potential health problems and risks, whether before, during or after Hajj.

In addition to providing health assistance to pilgrims at airports and in-kind gifts such as sunscreen creams, head umbrella, a fanny pack to fix the water bottle and various tools needed by the pilgrim, cooler bag for medicines and injections, and first aid bag.

Educational Lectures and Awareness Booklets

Al-Najjar added that two lectures were held in Dubai and Sharjah to raise the pilgrims’ health awareness. The Hajj Medical Committee's services included providing free checkups such as blood pressure, diabetes and health education through leaflets and brochures on Hajj procedures.

He pointed out that a special card has been provided, including the addresses, numbers, and names of those responsible for the medical mission in Mecca and Medina of the UAE’s hajj official mission, to communicate in case of necessity.

Worth mentioning that the preparatory mission was headed to Mecca and Madinah on July 25, to finalize the necessary preparations and to coordinate with Saudi Arabia’s concerned authorities.
