Mohammed Bin Rashid To Attend Opening Of Global Women's Forum Dubai 2020
Event, to be held from February 16-17, will host delegations from 87 countries
Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum will attend the opening session of the Global Women’s Forum Dubai (GWFD) 2020 to be held tomorrow (Sunday).
The second edition of the Global Women’s Forum Dubai, organised by the Dubai Women Establishment rom February 16-17 under the theme, ‘The Power of Influence’, highlights dynamic women across governments and the business world, as well as their significant impact and valuable contributions across the global economy and society.
Over 100 leaders and experts from across the world will engage in constructive dialogue on the advancement of women at the two-day Forum. More than 3,000 delegates from 87 countries are expected to attend over 60 workshops and sessions.
On the sidelines of the Forum, over 250 government representatives, business leaders and women entrepreneurs from the region will also participate in the first We-Fi MENA Regional Summit, which is co-organised by the Women Entrepreneurs Finance Initiative (We-Fi) and Dubai Women Establishment.
Her Highness Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the UAE Gender Balance Council and President of Dubai Women Establishment, stressed that GWFD 2020 is a chance to shed light on the UAE’s development journey set in motion by its wise leadership who believed in women’s capabilities and the importance of their role in society. The country’s leadership placed the highest priority on women’s empowerment, she said.
“The UAE provides an inspirational model for the empowerment and socio-economic participation of women. The country has created a highly supportive environment for women to enhance their contributions to society. The global community’s recognition of these remarkable achievements has led to the UAE becoming a venue for the world’s largest events focused on women’s empowerment and advancement,” HH Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed said.
“We are keen to follow the UAE’s approach in providing opportunities for a constructive global dialogue that serves humanity, helps it face challenges and maximises the capabilities of societies around the world to achieve sustainable development. Our goal is to work hand in hand with International organisations and influencers around the world to provide more opportunities for women and advance their influential roles in governmental, economic, social, cultural and other fields,” HH Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed noted.
“We are confident that the inspiring ideas generated at this forum will positively advance efforts to empower women in all fields and help create a bright future for humanity,” she added.
Her Excellency Mona Al Marri, Chairperson of the Board and Managing Director of Dubai Women Establishment, said that hosting the Global Women’s Forum Dubai 2020 is part of the continued importance that the leadership of the UAE attaches to the empowerment of women.
“Women constitute half of society and therefore must play an integral role in advancing development. The strong presence of women in all sectors demonstrates their competence and merit,” HE Mona Al Marri said.
The Global Women’s Forum Dubai 2020 is set to discuss a range of important topics related to the future of the role of women in the region and the world. The event offers a global platform to discuss improved policies and foster partnerships that further women’s positive impact across four key areas: government, economy, society, and future.
The Forum is in line with Dubai Women Establishment’s goal and mission to promote women’s participation in laying the foundations for a better future. The event also presents DWE an opportunity to enter into new partnerships and consolidate existing partnerships with international actors in this area.
In addition, the event seeks to shed light on enhancing the role of women In building sustainable societies characterised by equal opportunities in education, healthcare, cultural and social services. The event will also discuss enhancing the level of innovation among women and raising the level of their contribution in exploring prospects for the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
