Mohammed Bin Rashid School Of Government Announces Organising HSR2020 And AIB-MENA Annual Conference 2020
MBRSG will collaborate with international partners to hold 'The 6th Global Symposium on Health Systems Research (HSR2020)' and 'The Academy of International Business AIB-MENA Annual Conference 2020'
The Mohammed bin Rashid School of Government (MBRSG) announced two new events it plans to organise in 2020: ‘The 6th Global Symposium on Health Systems Research (HSR2020)’ and ‘The Academy of International Business AIB-MENA Annual Conference 2020’.
Organising the two pioneering events reflects MBRSG’s efforts to bring together decision makers, government officials, the private sector and partners, in order to develop a unified approach in dealing with various contemporary issues world is facing. The two events highlight and discuss health systems and policies research and the latest international business trends.
MBRSG’s Executive President His Excellency Dr Ali Bin Sebaa Al Marri said: “The Mohammed bin Rashid School of Government is the first research and teaching institution focusing on governance and public policy in the Arab world. Our mission is to support the production of knowledge and empower government leaders and policymakers, and with that in mind, we look forward to joining hands with prominent and likeminded institutions from around the world to organise two events we consider to be of great importance for decision makers and government officials in the UAE, the region, and the world.”
The first of the two events MBRSG will be organising, ‘The 6th Global Symposium on Health Systems Research (HSR2020)’, is hosted by Health Systems Global, in collaboration with the Knowledge to Policy (K2P) Centre at the American University of Beirut’s Faculty of Health Sciences, and a number of co‐sponsors and supporters, including the World Health Organisation, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
The event is set to be held on November 8‐12, 2020, at the Dubai World Trade Centre, under the theme ‘HSR2020: Re‐Imagining Health Systems for Better Health and Social Justice’. The Symposium explores the unique set of challenges facing the countries of the Eastern Mediterranean region today that are fuelled by demographic changes, epidemiological transitions, and internal conflicts – all of which are having a major impact on health and resources. Discussion topics at the event will examine possible responses to these challenges from multiple sectors, underlining the importance of achieving the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The debate on strengthening healthcare systems is particularly relevant as countries around the world grapple with the outbreak of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). A study conducted by several Professors from MBRSG underlined the need for governments, private companies, investors, and citizens to be more vigilant and agile, identifying three elements as cornerstones of the ‘Agility Government Structural Tension Foundations’, namely: Fluidity and Foresight; Versatility, Collaboration, and Resilience; and Harmony and Legitimacy.
The second event on the agenda, ‘The AIB-MENA Annual Conference 2020’, is set to take place on December 14-17, 2020, in Abu Dhabi. The annual conference, organised by the Academy of International Business (AIB), is set to be hosted by the Khalifa University, Abu Dhabi, under the theme ‘Exploring Resilience and Agility within International Business in the MENA Region’. Since 2010, AIB-MENA has held six conferences, brought together over 2000 participants, produced seven books, 108 teaching cases, and 10 journal articles in two special academic journal issues.
