Ministry Of Energy And Infrastructure Showcase Its Efforts To Achieve Climate Change And Environmental Conservation
The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure participate in Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) taking place between 17th to 19th January, 2022 at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition centre (ADNEC), one of the largest sustainability gatherings of its kind in presence of leaders, sustainability and environmental experts, and technology pioneers.
The ministry will showcase the UAE’s extinguish efforts in environmental sustainability and climate change as well as the future targets in line with the ‘Principles of the 50’.
The Ministry will review the efficient procedures and ambitious initiatives to support the country’s march towards global leadership in sustainability and climate change to achieve UAE Centennial 2071.
The Ministry will highlight the UAE’s efforts and commitment towards climate work and the initiatives, strategies, and policies to climate change, particularly carbon neutrality by 2050.
Additionally, the ministry will review the country’s hydrogen roadmap, and UAE Energy Strategy 2050, which is considered the first unified energy strategy in the country that is based on supply and demand, and aims to increase the contribution of clean energy in the total energy mix to 50 per cent by 2050, and reduce carbon footprint of power generation by 70 percent.
Sherif Al Olama, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure for Energy and Petroleum Affairs, affirmed the importance of (ADSW) amid the global attention to sustainability and climate change in light of the current changes in the world, particularly since climate work is one of the major pillars of sustainable development and prosperity.
He pointed to the UAE’s clear achievements in climate change and environmental conservation by applying advanced projects, the latest practices, and sustainable technology to create a mix of energy sources and balance between sustainable development and reduce the implications of climate change.
Al Olama, stated that this global event is very important to the country because of its role to support the UAE’s objectives and pave the way for hosting the United Nations Climate Conference COP28 in line with the ‘Principles of the 50’.
