M7 signs agreements with VCUarts Qatar, INJAZ Qatar and Doha Film Institute
Qatar Museums has signed several Memoranda of Understanding with local entities working on advancing Qatar’s creative landscape; activating QM’s creative space at M7. The agreements support a mutual commitment by the partners, Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Qatar (VCUarts Qatar), INJAZ Qatar, and Doha Film Institute (DFI) to the strengthening of the relationships between the organizations and the development of cooperative programming.
The agreement with VCUarts Qatar will see Qatar Museums work with the university to enhance capabilities, develop new knowledge and advance creative expression and innovation, to the public. The agreement aims to augment learning, and strengthen the positive impact the entities have on diverse art and design communities.
Maha Ghanim Al Sulaiti, Director, M7, said: “M7 is excited to join hands with VCUarts Qatar, INJAZ Qatar and the Doha Film Institute as our first program partners to fuel creative expression within our communities. This collaboration facilitates knowledge exchange and transfer through several inspiring activities designed to spark creativity and maximize learning outcomes for the community. As a creative hub, M7 is committed to mentoring creatives and advancing education within the industry while supporting Qatar Museums as it nurtures a thriving cultural landscape.” M7 was established under the auspices of H.E. Sheikha Al-Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, Chairperson of Qatar Museums, with the aim of advancing the career path of Qataris in creative fields.
Amir Berbić, the Dean of VCUarts Qatar, noted, “Since its inception, VCUarts Qatar has successfully partnered with artists, designers and the wider community to offer programs that enhance the local art and design landscape. Looking forward, we’re excited to collaborate with M7 and Qatar Museums. The collaboration will provide an opportunity to collectively use our resources and expertise to bring out the potential of existing and emerging creative talents in the country.”
Meanwhile, Qatar Museums’ agreement with INJAZ Qatar will see both entities form a cultural partnership, which will entail the shared use of M7’s creaitve spaces and the development of tailored programmes for students, including mentorship and talks, and an innovation camp model placing emphasis on creativity and design thinking skills.
