INJAZ Al-Arab And Alghanim Industries Provide Digital Literacy Skills To More Than 20,000 Students In Kuwait, Palestine, And Yemen
INJAZ Al-Arab and Alghanim Industries have prepared more than 20,000 students for their future careers with a series of digital skills training using the ‘Maharat min Google’ curriculum in Kuwait, Palestine, and Yemen. Designed with Arab youth at its core, the initiative provides students with valuable digital literacy skills to help set them up for success when entering the job market. Career-enhancing skills are learned through the program to support students in many areas such as improving their digital presence, marketing a business, boosting their employability skills, and building new connections.
The partnership was developed in response to the prevalent demand for digital skills within the job sector, and a lack of sufficient training available in MENA educational systems. Furthermore, despite the significant contribution women play to the world of innovation, the region has among the lowest female involvement rate globally. As a result of these considerations, the initiative was implemented to make a difference and raise hopes for the Arab youth to achieve their future aspirations. The program supports Arabic speakers, specifically women and young people, advance their careers and get digitally ready for future job opportunities that arise.
Although faced with the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, the initiative succeeded in reaching its target and helped students plan for their future through interactive virtual sessions. The recent curriculum was implemented during the 2019-2021 academic years and has reached 20,000 students in total: 2,000 in Kuwait, 9,200 in Palestine and 8,000 in Yemen.
Kutyaba Y. Alghanim, Chairman of Alghanim Industriescommented: Our support for this program stems from our commitment to equip our youth with the knowledge and skills that will allow them to thrive in an increasingly technology-driven economy. We are especially proud to be part of an initiative that trains the youth on essential digital skills through 'Maharat min Google', and involves a regional key player in youth development like INJAZ Al Arab, which has for many years been empowering the region’s youth to build successful and innovative careers.
Commenting on the impact of the initiative, CEO of INJAZ Al-Arab, AkefAqrabawi, said: “This initiative stems from our commitment to ensure that youth in the MENA region are equipped with the tools and skills that are necessary to plan for their future. With digital marketing being a key driver for job opportunities, it is our duty to give students access to the latest tools and techniques to advance their careers and reach their true potential. Despite the uncertainties of the pandemic, we were able to continue to reach our students virtually and the partnership with Alghanim Industries exceeded its target. It’s wonderful to see positivity and the drive of students in today’s age, which provides us with an optimistic outlook for the future of the Arab world.”
