In Excess Of AED 19 Million In Charitable Contributions From IACAD During The Same Period
More than 57,000 beneficiaries in the third quarter of 2019
The Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai (IACAD) announced that its charitable contributions covering education, health, housing and other humanitarian sectors clocked in at a total value of AED 19,159,636 in the third quarter of this year. This is in line with IACAD’s commitment to Article 9 of 50-Year-Charter and its contribution to initiatives, which provide a better life for the underprivileged.
The report issued by the Charity Sector in IACAD noted that the total number of beneficiaries, including citizens and non-citizens, stood at 57,312. Assistance provided to beneficiaries from citizens amounted to AED 9,225,953 for humanitarian cases; AED 7,209,740 for relief of anguish, AED 1,917,213 for housing assistance, and AED 99,000 for rent aid.
The total assistance provided by IACAD to non-citizen beneficiaries totaled at AED 3,171,611, including AED 756,798 for the health sector, AED 199,500 for relief of anguish, AED 40,000 for rent support, while the rest was spent on other humanitarian activities.
Mr. Ahmed Darwish Al Muhairi, Executive Director of the Charity Sector noted that IACAD is always looking to expand its humanitarian and charitable efforts, based on the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. These are reflected in Article 9 of 50-Year-Charter, which aims to achieve annual growth in humanitarian efforts that’s aligned with, and in proportion, with the country’s economic growth.
Al Muhairi said: “IACAD seeks to bolster social cohesion and strengthen the bonds of cooperation within our society. We always strive to provide assistance to members of society who require humanitarian aid. This is in in line with the values of generosity and humanity that characterizes the UAE and its wise leadership, who have, and continue to, uplift societies and communities both inside and outside the country. We work with relevant entities to ensure that this assistance is spread in an equitable manner and reaches deserving beneficiaries.”
The Charity Sector of IACAD aims to provide comprehensive support based on the humanitarian assistance plan for 2019. This is in line with the announcement made by the President of the UAE, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to recognize 2019 as the ‘Year of Tolerance’, as well as the objectives of Article 9 of 50-Year-Charter.
