College of the North Atlantic-Qatar signs an MoU with Qatar Shell

A common strategy for improving industrial and educational outcomes

College of the North Atlantic-Qatar has signed an MoU with Qatar Shell as part of its continuous effort to explore collaboration opportunities with industry giants. The MoU provides a framework for undertaking joint initiatives that explore research, applied practical studies and technologies focused on sustainable development and energy.

Engineering instructors at CNA-Q will participate in the industrial attachment program and students will contribute to Qatar Shell drive “for a cleaner global energy future” and global initiatives like the “Shell Eco-marathon”. They will also follow orientation sessions about energy efficiency and eco-efficiency. In addition to that, this partnership will give the chance to students of Engineering Technology and Industrial Trades’ School to intern at Shell Qatar facilities and benefit from its experts’ knowledge.

The scope expands to include a coordination on the managerial level, in addition to the organization of joint conferences, workshops and forums.

Commenting on the event Rashid Al Sulaiti, Deputy General Manager of Qatar Shell Pearl GTL, said: “At Qatar Shell, we champion open innovation and partnerships with locally-based research institutions and universities. I believe that the students, instructors and professors from CNA-Q can benefit from collaborating with us and I have no doubt that we can learn from each other. We are looking towards a fruitful outcome that benefits the business environment and the future generations from this partnership.  It is a great step in our journey to support the Qatar National Vision 2030 goals”.

In his speech, President of CNA-Q, Dr. Salem Al-Naemi said: “As an applied College, we are very proud to offer our students opportunities to hone their skills and gain real-world experience. This approach would not have been possible without the presence of companies like Qatar Shell. Such industry entities believe in our future generation, and the role they can play in the workplace and in leadership positions. CNA-Q is also extremely active in the research field, and this MoU will contribute in achieving a progress in the outcome.”
