Abu Dhabi Accountability Authority to Host the ACFE Fraud Conference Middle East 2019
Abu Dhabi Accountability Authority (ADAA) will host the ACFE Fraud Conference Middle East 2019 in cooperation with the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners for the second consecutive year, with the event being held in the Capital between the dates of February 24 and February 26, 2019.
Bringing together anti-fraud experts, professionals, thinkers and strategists from across the world, the conference confirms its statute as a leading platform to showcase the latest experiences and methods of countering fraud, corruption and corporate malpractice.
“Abu Dhabi Accountability Authority’s hosting of the conference is a practical concretization of our leadership’s vision to explore, research, develop and implement leading practices in the fields of governance and transparency, and enhancing the role of the Authority in safeguarding the achievements and resources for the sustainable economic, societal and infrastructure development in Abu Dhabi and the UAE. The importance of the conference lies in providing a participatory platform that brings together international expertise to discuss the challenges and obstacles in combating fraud and curbing its negative impact on the economy” said H.E. Hamad Al Hurr Al Suwaidi, Chairman of ADAA.
“We are confident that this conference will be a key forum in boosting the discussion around the adoption of more effective and successful initiatives to address the global phenomenon of fraud. It will cement the foundation of establishing Abu Dhabi as a platform for the exchange of ideas and of cooperation with our partners on the local, regional and international scenes, and outline the use of progressive solutions and state of the art technologies in enhancing our defense and that of the public and private sectors against attempts of this nature” he added.
The conference will examine the methods, tools and approaches that have proven effective in identifying, monitoring and reducing the opportunity for fraud.

The conference will provide a unique opportunity, in terms of the caliber of professionals, topics to be discussed, and expertise brought forward, for anti-fraud professionals in the region to meet and discuss the latest trends and tools in fraud prevention and detection,” said Bruce Dorris, CEO of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE).
He also added: “The keynote line-up includes Dr. Eugene Soltes, Harvard faculty and renown author McAfee’s Asia Pacific Chief Technology Officer, Ian Yip”.
The ACFE Fraud Conference Middle East 2019 will include keynote and breakout sessions, in addition to panel discussions focusing on the latest trends and topics in the fight against fraud. The forum will also place a focus on the need to improve data security in the wake of the continuous roll-out of new technologies, with increased scrutiny as to the handling, management and safeguarding of corporate and personal data, and related regulation such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
ADAA strives to improve the principles of accountability and transparency in the government of Abu Dhabi and its public entities and to verify their effectiveness and efficiency in using their resources in line with the overall vision of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The authority exercises its activities in collaboration with local departments and bodies of the Emirate, as well as the institutions and companies in which the Abu Dhabi Government ownership stands at 50% or more.
