ABCC to open international offices in Saudi Arabia and Egypt to reinforce Brazil-Arab trade ties

Chamber's Dubai office marks second anniversary

In a move to bolster trade relations between major Arab markets and Brazil, the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) is set to inaugurate two international offices in Saudi Arabia and Egypt, which will serve as additional outposts in the Arab countries.

The facilities, which will assist companies looking to partner with Brazilian firms and vice versa, will be equipped with faster technical support and address business requirements, concerns and issues of ABCC’s member companies, associates, and customers, keeping in mind their goals and strategies.

The international offices will also pave the way for a deeper knowledge of local markets including new developments and trends as well as forging new partnerships in value-added segments such as innovation, technology, and products.

Commenting on the announcement, Rubens Hannun, President, Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, said: “This latest development will give our members a competitive edge and offer enormous economic benefits to the Brazilian and Arab markets. It will bolster trade activities among relevant parties as we remain committed to deliver solutions, through our offices in the Arab world, including cost-effective procedures and faster import-export processes. It is a milestone in our ongoing efforts to reinforce trade ties between Brazil and the Arab countries.”

The new offices will serve as a meeting point for Brazilian and Arab businessmen, representatives, and government officials to hold business meetings and events, among other functions.

The announcement of the new offices follows the opening of ABCC’s first international office in Dubai which recently marked its second anniversary. Since its establishment, the ABCC’s Dubai office has served in enhancing Brazil’s relationship with the UAE and neighbouring Arab countries, along with building a closer connection between private commercial entities. Further, it has been hosting Arab and Brazilian delegates from public and private sectors, providing networking opportunities and holding seminars and activities.

One of the main gatherings that took place at ABCC’s Dubai office was in late 2019 when a seminar featuring Brazil’s Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply Tereza Cristina was held. Minister Cristina was the seminar’s main guest and met with Arab leaders to discuss agribusiness-related issues. The event was the first one to be held at the office’s auditorium and saw participation from 90 businessmen, industry representatives and authorities from Brazil and the UAE.

“Our offices in key Arab markets bring us closer to our members, allowing us to support them in overcoming challenges and delivering enhanced services. Our Dubai office has become a channel for Arab businesses wanting to collaborate with their Brazilian counterparts and build a strong footprint in the South American country,” Hannun added.

The international offices provide key services such as identifying business partners and opportunities; offering feasibility studies and potential analysis for investments; customs consulting; promoting products and services of its members in Arab and Brazilian media; and helping organize trade shows, business matchmaking events, and lectures. They also provide an avenue to build stronger relationships and networks between Arab and Brazilian companies, governments, and other institutions, as well as issue certifications and offer Portuguese-Arabic translation service.
