Sheikha Latifa Honours Winners Of Holy Quran Competition, Praises Qualitative Shift Witnessed At Event
The Dubai Holy Quran Competition for People of Determination came to a close with Sheikha Latifa bint Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the Zabeel Ladies Club, awarding 41 winners from the 676 participants of the 13th edition.
Sheikha Latifa also praised the qualitative shift witnessed at the competition and the increasing number of Quran memorizers and reciters over the years.
She said the event has positively reflected in encouraging the people of determination to embrace the Holy Quran in memorization, understanding, and contemplation.
Her Highness emphasised that the award is a continuity of the approach outlined by Sheikha Rawda bint Ahmed bin Juma Al Maktoum, wife of the late Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the event’s patron.
The award ceremony was also attended by Aisha Abdullah Miran, Director General of the Knowledge and Human Development Authority in Dubai; Thani Juma Berregad, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Dubai Club for People of Determination; and Majid Al Usaimi, Executive Director of the Club and Director of the Ramadan Festival.
The ceremony began with verses from the Holy Quran, followed by a speech by Raeesa Al Falasi, Chairwoman of the Organising Committee, who thanked the wise leadership for empowering the People of Determination, and Sheikha Rawda bint Ahmed bin Juma Al Maktoum for her patronage and support of the competition every year.
Al Falasi described the 13th edition as the largest, with 676 male and female contestants participating, and it became a beacon of light and radiance through their Holy Quran recitations.
Members of the People of Determination Club presented the operetta “Al-Tawmina”, which embodied the traditional ceremonies held to celebrate the completion of the Holy Quran competition.
Berregad thanked Sheikha Rawda bint Ahmed bin Juma Al Maktoum for her continued sponsorship of the competition, which has continued to develop under her guidance, and thanked Sheikha Latifa, who presented a memento, for honouring the closing ceremony.
He emphasised that Sheikha Latifa’s satisfaction at the closing ceremony doubles everyone’s responsibility to continue the same path.
Berregad also highlighted the number of participants from the GCC countries in the competition.
For his part, Majid Al Usaimi thanked Sheikha Rawda bint Ahmed bin Juma Al Maktoum for her continued support of the Holy Quran Competition, one of the largest and most important cultural competitions, achieving success over the years.
He also thanked Sheikha Latifa bint Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum for her interest and support for people of determination in all fields.
