Sadia Offers 1.4mln Meals To Support GCC Relief Efforts
Sadia, the world’s leading frozen chicken product brand owned by BRF, one of the world’s largest food companies, announces its initiative to deliver 1.4 million meals to communities affected by the Coved-19 pandemic in the Arabian Gulf region. The move is part of the US$1 million Coved-19 Pandemic Response Fund, launched by the company in collaboration with government agencies and charities in the region to support food security efforts, where each government and charity will receive part of the food supply to strengthen its humanitarian activities to combat the effects of the current crisis.
The Coved-19 Pandemic Response Fund is part of a broader global initiative launched by B.C. R.I.R.R. F to fight the epidemic by donating R$50 million in food and medical supplies and supporting research funds and social support.
The global and regional economy has undergone unprecedented transformations against the backdrop of the outbreak of the new coronavirus causing Coved-19. The strict measures taken to contain the spread of the virus, together with restrictions on movement within and across states, have hampered food logistics, prompting governments and economies of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) to make further efforts to achieve food security for their communities.
“We are seeing more negative impacts of the Impact of the Coved-19 pandemic on communities in the region every day,” said Patricio Roner, Vice President of International Markets at BRF. Food resources are perhaps one of the main needs of societies at this time. At Sadia, we believe in the need to provide quality food for all people. With this in mind, Sadia is committed to using its resources to help and meet all communities’ needs, especially in such difficult times. “We hope that our response fund will help meet the basic needs of the most needy families in the region, namely, to provide them with quality and healthy food.”
This initiative included, for example, Sadia’s collaboration with Emirates Food Bank and the 10 million meal stake launched by The Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives Foundation in collaboration with the Community Solidarity Fund to provide food for the needy within the UAE. Similarly, this partnership extends to the Red Crescent in Kuwait, the Saudi Ministry of Health and the food charity Feed, to provide food and meals to those in need.
Government partnerships are key to the success of such initiatives, so Sadia will continue to use its resources to respond to the effects of the Coved-19 pandemic in collaboration with government agencies. The company is also committed to its leading role in such initiatives and to upgrade them to meet all emerging needs efficiently and effectively.
