Italy Presents Latest Dental Innovation At AEEDC Dubai
Italy reinforces the UAE’s vision in becoming an international health hub with a strong focus on innovation. Latest trends, equipment and consumables for dentists, dental clinics and professionals will be presented by the Italian Trade Agency (ITA) at the 24th edition of AEEDC Dubai, the UAE’s International Dental Conference & Arab Dental Exhibition and the largest dental event in the MENASA region, taking place on February 4-6 at Dubai World Trade Centre.
ITA, in collaboration with UNIDI, the Italian Dental Industries Association, will bring together 38 companies that represent a highly-diversified segment of the Italian manufacturing sector. Among the firms participating in AEEDC with ITA, 16 of them are newcomers. In the past decade, the major focus in dentistry has been towards the improvement of oral health through a combination of engineering, technology, science, design. Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Milling (CAD/CAM), is a technological innovation that has revolutionized dental care and patience experience. Italy is at the forefront of this technology as well as of Dental 3D Printing, diagnostic equipment, and dental devices. These 38 companies take pride in their sound international reputation for the high quality and the reliability of their products and original design resulting from their intense R&D investment and long-standing technical experience. Local distributors, dental clinics, professionals and technicians in the industry will find a wide range of innovative products, compliant with current Italian and EU regulations, from dynamic companies with strong competitive edge at the Italian pavilion. On this regard recently, Dubai’s dentistry regulations have been revamped with a view to meet a growing need of care in the emirate. In doing so the Dubai Healthcare City Authority hopes also to rise standars as Dubai braces itself for a 156% increase in demand for dentistry services by 2025.
The UAE’s dental devices market is expected to record a CAGR of approximately 6,62% over the forecast period 2019-2024. Among the crucial factors that are accelerating the growth of this market include increasing awareness on oral care, innovation in dental products, and increasing incidences of dental diseases (134.000 incidents of tooth decay and 85.000 cases of adult gum disease were diagnosed in 2017 as the Abu Dhabi Department of Health reported).
Awareness of oral care among consumers is growing which results to the dental system in the UAE being one of the most dynamic in the world, and it comes with a strong demand in high-end innovative products. Accoding to the Trade Data Monitor by ITA, the Emirates imports dental equipment from abroad with Italy currently sitting on the ninth place, exporting EUR 22 million in 2017. During the first quarter of 2018, Italy increased the export five times more compared to the previous year, and a growing trend has been recorded throughout the whole of 2019.
“We recognise a growing demand in the UAE market which has made advancements in the dental industry. In fact, our exports of dental equipment to the UAE has increased by 25% in the last 6 months in 2019 compared to the same period in 2018. The investment made by Italy in research and quality in this field is evident in the high-performing and intelligently-designed products, as you will see at the AEEDC until Thursday 6th February,” said Amedeo Scarpa, Italian Trade Commissioner to the UAE, Oman and Pakistan.
“Our role at ITA is to provide Italian’s homegrown SMEs with a platform where they can showcase their capabilities and demonstrate how ‘Made in Italy’ products can augment technological and methodological advancements in relevant industries in the markets that we operate in. We look forward to seeing more efficient dental treatments in the UAE possibly with ever growing number of Italian equipment and consumables being utilized by more than 5,000 dentists in the Emirates and beyond.” added Scarpa.
