High-Level Ghanaian Delegation To Explore Prospects For Investment Partnerships In Dubai
Business leaders and CEOs from top Ghanaian banks and insurance companies will join a trade mission to Dubai later this month which is being organised by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s representative office in Accra.
The trade mission will be held April 7th-13th 2018 and coincide with the Annual Investment Meeting 2018 in Dubai. The Ghanaian delegates are participating in the global conference with the aim of exploring funding opportunities for capital intensive projects in the African country.
Following a decision last year from the Bank of Ghana that raised the minimum capital requirement for Ghanaian commercial banks to $89 million, many banks in the country are in need of investment in order to meet the recapitalization deadline of September 2018.
Mr. Omar Khan, Director of International Offices at Dubai Chamber, explained that the trade mission will provide an ideal opportunity to facilitate fruitful cooperation between Ghanaian businesses and their UAE counterparts, explore bilateral investment opportunities and promote Dubai as a global business hub and gateway for investments into Africa.
“I am optimistic about prospects and outcome of this trade mission as Dubai’s business community is already well aware of the huge investment potential that Ghana offers. The delegation visit will lay the groundwork for future partnerships that can support the growth of Ghana’s banking sector and help Dubai-based companies diversify their investments abroad,” he added.
Business-to-business meetings will be held as part of the trade mission that will be joined by the visiting delegates and leading investment companies in Dubai, high-net worth individuals, sovereign funds, private equity funds, family held fund managers during the Annual Investment Meeting.
In addition, Ghanaian delegates will be given many opportunities to learn more about Dubai’s business environment and participate in site visits to Dubai Chamber, Dubai Multi Commodities Centre, Smart Dubai Office, Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority, where they will meet with key stakeholders.
