Gulf Photo Plus Presents Talk With Award-Winning NOOR Images Co-Founder Kadir Van Lohuizen This February!
Gulf Photo Plus holds a special evening in conversation with the highly-acclaimed photographer Kadir van Lohuizen this Thursday, 3 February at 7:00 pm in Warehouse 34, Alserkal Avenue. Audiences will see the decorated photographer, a winner of two prestigious World Press Photo awards and co-founder of NOOR Images, talk about his environmental period piece and thought-provoking photography project After Us the Deluge. The long-term project was in the making for over a decade, and dissects an ongoing environmental catastrophe that yields limited media coverage. It has been adapted into a TV series, dedicated photobook, and showcased in various major exhibitions across the globe. Van Lohuizen enlisted scientists, politicians, and journalists to help tell the stories of disastrous consequences of this crisis in his luminous photobook, and captures these scenes in photographs that are both beautiful and disturbing. He will be relaying his journey with the project and discussing it in a moderated Q&A with the audience. This talk will be a one-off opportunity for audiences to ask the experienced photographer questions, and get unique insights into the process of creating long-term, award-worthy visual projects, and the lived experiences that inform his storytelling.
