Fitness First Middle East Embraces The Spirit Of Ramadan
Health and fitness company, Fitness First Middle East, owned and operated by retail conglomerate Landmark Group in the region is embracing the spirit of Ramadan with charity campaigns to benefit families in need, labourers and the less fortunate during the holy month. From collecting old clothes to hosting iftar meals for thousands of workers living in labour camps in Dubai, Fitness First Middle East is committed to spreading a culture of caring throughout Ramadan.
Members and staff at Fitness First’s 21 clubs across Dubai are encouraged to drop off old and unwanted clothes at donation boxes located in each venue as part of the OMO & Comfort annual ‘Share a Touch of Love’ campaign. The donated clothes will be collected together at the end of Ramadan to be counted by Guinness World Record officials before being cleaned and distributed to needy families and individuals in coordination with Emirates Red Crescent.
Also taking place in the holy month, Fitness First will serve thousands of iftar meals to labourers as part of its support for the Al Jalilah Foundation’s ‘Basma’ campaign. Fitness First will host a Ramadan iftar for workers living in Jabel Ali labour camp. The iftars will feed around 2,000 labourers, many of whom will be working outside as they fast during the holy month.
Each meal pack costs AED10, with AED1 going towards supporting the work of the Al Jalilah Foundation’s ‘Basma’ campaign, which helps bring smiles to the faces of children suffering with life threatening illnesses. Fitness First will purchase the iftar meals, with members of staff encouraged to volunteer to help distributed the food. In addition, Fitness First staff will also donate old uniforms to the labourers.
