Emirates Energy Award Starts Accepting Nominations For Fourth Edition Which Is Being Held In Conjunction With Expo 2020 Dubai
Under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy (DSCE) has announced that it is now accepting nominations for the fourth edition of the Emirates Energy Award (EEA) 2020 that will be held in conjunction with Expo 2020 Dubai, under the theme, ‘Inspiring Innovation for Sustainable Energy’. The deadline for the submission of applications is December 31, 2019.
The EEA 2020 award nomination covers the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region and aims to encourage individuals and companies to rationalise the use of energy. The award not only recognises best practices and pioneering works in energy and water efficiency, but also acknowledges solutions in alternative energy or renewable energy production, sustainability and environmental conservation. The award is an international platform that focuses on supporting global endeavours to find innovative and sustainable solutions for issues like environmental pollution, global warming, CO2 emissions and scarcity of natural resources.
While the award felicitates the private and public sector’s role in energy efficiency projects, it also encourages contributions from the educational sector, scientific researchers and innovative projects.
HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of The Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, and President of the Emirates Energy Award said, “EEA aligns with the vision of the wise leadership in supporting the journey towards sustainable development and achieving the objectives of the UAE Vision 2021 and the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050. It also aims to protect the environment, advance renewable energy technologies, and enhance knowledge sharing in energy rationalisation across varied sectors in the UAE.”
“EEA is also well aligned with the Eight Principles of Governance launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai that highlights the importance of enhancing the quality of living, as well as attracting best talents and minds across varied categories. In addition, it encourages contributions from the best minds in shaping the future of energy efficiency management, as well as devising new ways of energy production to retain excellence, create new economic opportunities, and enhance competition and leadership sustainability for Dubai and UAE across sectors. EEA will also support talents and innovators regionally and globally so that it reinforces Dubai’s role as a global platform for talents and innovation,” added Al Tayer.
“EEA is an important platform to boost solutions to build sustainable future for new generations, as well as invite new ideas in the energy industry to enhance the quality of life and conserve natural resources. However, all of this is possible only with the support and collaboration of companies, organisations and individuals that will promote new models in sustainability practices and energy efficiency. We are confident that there will be more applications for this year as we move into a whole new level of energy efficiency,” concluded Al Tayer.
HE Ahmed Butti Al Muhairbi, Secretary General of The Dubai Supreme Council of Energy and Vice Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Emirates Energy Award said, “EEA takes place under the theme – Inspiring Innovation for Sustainable Energy, and we aim to attract the latest technologies in sustainable projects to mitigate climate change. The UAE has several ambitious and innovative projects to decrease CO2 emissions across the world and build a sustainable future. It is imperative that we highlight these activities, so that we become role models for the world.”
Al Muhairbi added, “We are continuing our endeavours to inspire creative and talented people, and organisations in the UAE and the region. Additionally, we will continue to invest in research and innovation into renewable energy, and energy efficiency, for better methods of rationalisation to conserve our natural resources for the next generations. EEA offers an important opportunity for leaders in the energy industry from the MENA region to learn new technologies and innovations in energy; and exchange knowledge and expertise to develop sustainable innovations.”
Nominations for the EEA is open for everyone, including innovators and creators from the private and public sector, as well as researchers, scientists and innovative institutions. The winners of this edition will get a chance to visit Expo 2020 Dubai and explore the unique features and interact with multi-national cultures, that this high-profile event brings.
