Dubai Culture Takes Samsung Partnership to World Art Dubai 2018

Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), the Emirate’s dedicated entity for culture, arts and heritage, is participating in the fourth edition of World Art Dubai through its partnership with Samsung Gulf Electronics, which was originally established to bring digital art to SIKKA Art Fair 2018. World Art Dubai, which was launched to cater to the growing demand for affordable, contemporary art in the Middle East, began on 18th April and will run until the 21st of the same month at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

Dubai Culture’s World Art Dubai stand features a dedicated ‘Creatopia & The Frame Art Gallery ’, where selected Creatopia digital art is displayed on Samsung’s ‘The Frame’ TV screens in alignment with the Authority’s mandate to support emerging creative talent by providing artists with platforms for sharing their latest work. The Frame — a TV that ingeniously doubles as a A Digital Art Frame for photographs and works of art — was created to seamlessly bring art into people’s homes and everyday lives.

World Art Dubai falls under Dubai Art Season, Dubai Culture’s flagship umbrella arts event, which runs throughout March and April each year under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice Chairman of Dubai Culture. Dubai Art Seasons holds pride of place in the city’s busy cultural calendar, featuring an array of arts events, with the aim of empowering the culture and arts sector to bring happiness to the Emirate’s society. The initiative is also aligned with the Authority’s vision of positioning Dubai as a global, creative and digital city for culture, heritage, arts and literature.

Creatopia (www.creatopia.ae) is a Dubai government-empowered virtual community for creativity. It was launched as part of Dubai Culture’s mandate to motivate, inspire and connect both established and emerging members of the creative ecosystem, and the arts and heritage communities by sparking a digital creative transformation online. Tapping into the millennial generation, the site has attracted artistic minds from the world over, including a high concentration of talents within in the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

The ‘Creatopia & The Frame Art Gallery’ complements the growing scope of World Art Dubai, which spans 6,000 square metres of inspiring exhibition space with new segments for photography and digital art, as well as dedicated spaces for galleries, solo artists and groups. The event features mixed media ranging from $100 to $20,000 in price and displays art and culture from all over the world, supporting Dubai Culture’s mission to drive the creative economy, strengthen the arts sector to bring happiness to the society, and establish Dubai as a global hub for creativity and culture.

Dubai Culture aims to enhance Dubai’s cultural scene and draw attention to the Emirate’s rich heritage with a variety of initiatives that take place throughout the year. The Authority’s mandate is to build bridges of constructive dialogue between different civilisations and cultures through enriching initiatives that benefit the Emirate’s citizens, residents and visitors.
