DP World, UAE Region Wins Recognition As The Region’s Premiere Supply Chain Hub
Global trade enabler DP World UAE Region has been recognised for developing the GCC’s most robust and efficient supply chain at this year’s Logistics Middle East Awards 2019, where it won the Supply Chain Hub of the Year award.
Abdulla bin Damithan, Chief Commercial Officer of DP World UAE Region, accepted the award on behalf of the company at the event held at the Le Royal Meridian Dubai. Shahab Al Jassmi, Commercial Director of Ports and Terminals, DP World UAE Region, also attended the event and both presented the Breakbulk Operator of the Year award, won by the GAC Group.
DP World UAE Region is a global leader in supply chain and logistics. Its door-to-door logistics model is unique in the MENA region and is based on a holistic system that synergises Jebel Ali Port with the company’s numerous Parks and Zones including Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza), National Industries Park (NIP) and its support services like Dubai Trade.

The Logistics Middle East Awards, created and hosted by the ITP Group, is one of the most prestigious events for the Middle East’s logistics sector. It aims to recognise companies that develop innovating solutions, implement best practices, and show outstanding performance.
DP World UAE Region has become a significant part of Dubai’s economy, primarily through Jebel Ali Port and Free Zone. The two entities jointly account for 33.4 per cent of Dubai’s total GDP. Jafza continues to be a primary source of foreign direct investments (FDI), accounting for 23.9 per cent of total FDI inflow into the emirate, while Jebel Ali Port accounts for 42 per cent of Dubai’s total trade value.
