Cyberverse: Huawei Unveils A New World
Planet-scale, seamlessly fuse to the physical world, real-time update the new world, which is the goal that technology development has long been pursuing. Many science fiction writers have imagined the future in which human beings develop unprecedented mastery of visual creativity and transcend the limits of space and time. Today, fiction becomes fact. Huawei Fellow Mr. Luo Wei unveils the cutting-edge Cyberverse technology at the HDC 2019 held in Huawei’s Songshan Lake campus on August 11, 2019. Discover the new world, create the wonder together.
Luo Wei describes Cyberverse as an innovative advanced technology that integrates the virtual world with reality. By connecting users, space, and data through spatial computing, it provides Huawei’s mobile device users with a brand-new interaction mode and unparalleled visual experience.

Luo Wei is Huawei’s chief camera engineer. From the first-generation dual cameras, to the latest P30 Pro, he has played a part in Huawei’s revolutionary journey in mobile phone camera technology. According to Luo Wei, thanks to the development of camera technologies, the capabilities of mobile phones to sense the world are evolving. Cyberverse incorporates capabilities including 3D ultra-high definition map, spatial computing, better scenario understanding, and ultra-realistic immersive rendering. This technology, in conjunction with 5G architecture that harnesses cloud-pipe-device synergy, will help build a virtual world that is integrated with reality and provide valuable new service.
The all-scenario spatial computing of Cyberverse enables a mobile phone to precisely work out its position right down to the centimeter and sense its orientation with a margin of error of one degree. This highly precise position and orientation information makes the seamless integration of real world and virtual world possible. The scenario understanding of Cyberverse applies deep learning techniques to analyze the geographical location information, which greatly improves the phone’s capability to accurately identify physical environments and objects. The HDMAP of Cyberverse can automatically and efficiently draw highly precise multidimensional and multi-source HD maps by automatically identifying the features of the surrounding environment. This function enables phones to obtain accurate 3D information about their surroundings. The immersive rendering of Cyberverse combines the virtual view with reality, enabling a more realistic and vivid display.

With the release of Cyberverse, Huawei unveils a new world that is seamlessly integrated with reality. Huawei also provides an all-round development structure for developers and partners, inviting them to build this new digital world together.
Luo Wei predicts that Cyberverse will be used in public places such as tourist attractions, museums, smart campuses, airports, high-speed railway stations, and commercial buildings. It is estimated that before the end of 2019, we will set up five test sites, covering a range of application scenarios. Cyberverse will be used in 100 sites before the end of the second quarter of 2020, and in 1000 sites by the end of the year. As the development of Cyberverse progresses, a brand-new visual service and seamless interactive experience integrating virtual worlds with reality will be brought to users. This will have a significant influence on how we interact with our mobile phones, and the experiences they bring. Huawei will join hands with partners to bring digital to every person, home and organization for a fully connected, intelligent world.
