ChoirFest Middle East Returns For 2020
The biggest annual choral festival in the region, ChoirFest Middle East, will return to Dubai Opera on Saturday 14th March for its 8th season, hosting two concerts; ChoirFest Middle East 2020 Gala Concert, and the all new Junior Gala Concert. Tickets are on sale now at www.dubaiopera.com, with limited 20% early bird discounts available on VIP and Platinum tickets.
This year, a staggering 2,500 students from across 60 schools are set to take part in the competition that has grown to become the only international choir festival of its kind in the region. Celebrating the rich diversity of choral music for both adult and student choirs, ChoirFest Middle East brings together both highly skilled UAE based choirs, as well as participating regional choirs to share their amazing musical talent.
Due to immense popular demand, ChoirFest Middle East has introduced an additional matinee concert devoted to the junior participants this year, so they too can have a chance to shine on the Dubai Opera stage. Children from the age of 6 to 11 years will have the opportunity to charm the audience with a range of musical styles. Audience members can expect to laugh, cry and be dazzled by the outstanding voices from around the UAE, as the young performers compete for the title of Junior Choir of the Year at the first ever Junior Gala Concert.
The long awaited ChoirFest Gala Concert then takes place as usual that afternoon at Dubai Opera, featuring spectacular performances from the adult winners of the 2020 Choir of the Year, the finalists of the UAE secondary and middle school competition, as well as the best local and regional choirs.
Shelley Frost, Co-Founder of ChoirFest Middle East and Director of The Fridge said; “We are so proud to see how ChoirFest Middle East has grown over the years and caught the imagination of so many junior and adult singers across the UAE. 2020 will see the biggest number of participants to date, which is testament to the fact that choral music can really bring the community together to celebrate the universal language that is music. ChoirFest Middle East is a world-class event that will entertain you, move you and most certainly delight you.”
Junior and senior school competition heats will start from 23rd to 24th February in Abu Dhabi and 25th to 27th February in Dubai, where choirs will take part in a series of choral workshops, and sing their hearts out in the hopes of securing a spot on the Dubai Opera stage.
Stay tuned for further announcements of the spectacular regional choirs that will be performing at the Gala Concert and this year’s workshop leaders.
