Artists The Connor Brothers To Sell Exclusive Prints In The Middle East To Aid Fight Against COVID-19
After selling 300 artworks in just 30 minutes as part of a UK fundraiser for the NHS and giving away 500 prints in less than an hour to frontline workers, celebrated British artists, The Connor Brothers have created 21 commissionable English and Arabic artworks for the Middle East for an online exhibition, with 20% of the profits being donated to the Community Solidarity Fund against COVID-19.
Set up by the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in response to the growing societal concern to contribute to the fight against COVID-19, the Community Solidarity Fund aims to relieve the economic, social, and health challenges posed by the pandemic.
In cooperation with Dubai Chamber, 20% of the profits generated from The Connor Brother’s online exhibition will go towards one of the main causes of the fund which is to provide humanitarian and logistical assistance to blue collar labourers who have finished work projects in Dubai but have no financial means to return home.
Best known around the world for their signature style of poignant quotes painted over historical pop culture images, The Connor Brothers’ online exhibition will launch on Tuesday 28th April 2020, and will feature 21 commissionable artworks created on canvas and paper exclusively made for the Middle East, in both the English and Arabic languages,
James Golding, one half of The Connor Brothers duo commented: “After our exhibition that was due to take place last month during Art Dubai got put on hold, and after the huge success that we’ve had in the UK with our involvement in the Art for Heroes campaign, it felt right to continue with our Middle Eastern exhibition plans, and create special pieces to sell in the region. We hope to raise as much money as possible to help the region’s fight against COVID-19 with these pieces which will also mark the first time we’ve created works in Arabic.”
Organiser of the online exhibition, Jasper Hope, CEO of Proscenium Arts, commented: “Great art lifts one’s spirits and that is exactly what we need more of right now. It is hard to look at artwork by The Connor Brothers and not smile so we’re delighted to be able to bring this limited selection of 21 pieces of their work to the Middle East. Having raised over £75,000 for the NHS in the UK already and with demand far exceeding the limited supply, we are confident that The Connor Brother’s artwork will attract discerning buyers in the region as well as raise a substantial amount of money for the Community Solidarity Fund against COVID-19.”
After rising to fame in 2012 The Connor Brothers duo take inspiration for their work from popular and historical culture such as Pulp Fiction novels from the 1950s and 1960s. Loved by people around the world, The Connor Brothers’ signature style of thought-provoking slogans will feature on the works created for the online exhibition with quotes such as, ‘I don’t care what anybody says about me as long as it isn’t true’, ‘I never let the truth get in the way of a good story’, and ‘Why fit in when you were born to stand out?’
The exhibition has been created by art consultancy West Contemporary, and cultural and entertainment consultancy Proscenium Arts. Prices are available on application for the 21 commissionable pieces. Please visit www.proscenium-arts.com for more information or email info@proscenium-arts.com.
