Cisco announced it is a lead sponsor of COMEX 2018, which will be held from April 23-25, 2018 at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre. The worldwide technology leader will showcase its key architectures and technology solutions including its Enterprise Networking, Cybersecurity, Digital Network Architecture, Data Center and Cloud, Collaboration, IoT and Digitization for Smart Cities at the country’s premier technology exhibition. A Cisco solution architect for Smart Cities and IoT will share his expertise on how organizations and businesses can ‘Unlock the Value of Data with Cisco IoT’ at the Smart Cities and Industry 4.0 Summit.
COMEX 2018 aims to track the progress of ICT in transforming companies and industries in Oman. As ICT applications are being realized across several sectors in the Sultanate, the event will showcase key technological developments across industry verticals. Cisco is supporting Oman’s efforts to transition to a knowledge-based economy in line with economic Vision 2020 and Vision 2040, and will take part in knowledge sharing sessions on digital transformation and smart city innovations at the niche technology event.
“As part of its Vision 2020, the Omani government is working towards a sustainable and diversified economy, with a focus on driving digital initiatives that improve quality of life, citizen services and business outcomes,” said Mr. Ali Al Lawati, General Manager, Oman, Cisco Middle East. “The Information Technology Authority (ITA) is developing a 2030 strategy to help plan smart cities. At Cisco, we have extensive expertise in developing smarter and more securely connected cities. We look forward to sharing this knowledge with the relevant government entities and industry verticals in Oman to help them realize their Smart City ambitions and to help accelerate the transformation of Oman into a technology empowered society.”
At COMEX 2018, Cisco will showcase its biggest innovation in recent years – its intent-based networking platform – as well as its Digital Network Architecture (DNA) Center and its enterprise networking and security solutions. Cisco’s software driven approach delivers intent-based networking solutions and services that turn network traffic data into actionable insights, helping make business decisions faster, mitigating more security threats, and managing the unprecedented scale of connected devices and services more easily. The company will also demonstrate how Cisco Kinetic can help organizations extract, compute and move data from connected things to applications, enabling them to unlock the power of IoT data for smart cities to drive better business outcomes.
“Smart cities require abstract and complex initiatives, making it easy to quickly become overwhelmed. The smart city ecosystem blends a wide array of important actors, and the building of trust and nurturing of these valued relationships is instrumental in creating a successful result. Cisco is excited to be a part of COMEX 2018, where we plan to showcase our IoT and smart city architectures and solutions and show how technology can create path-breaking improvement in business practices and citizen services,” Mr. Lawati added.
