MARS Wins “Manufacturing Supply Chain Of The Year” At The Logistics Middle East Awards 2018
MARS GCC was recognized for its excellence in sustainable manufacturing at last night’s Logistics Middle East Awards 2018 with the prestigious “Manufacturing Supply Chain of the Year” award. This award is a celebration of a decade of strategic decision making and investments, well designed initiatives, resource and process optimization, and concerted efforts.
This win also highlights MARS’ unprecedented leadership and commitment, in the energy-intensive manufacturing sector, to making its entire supply chain ecologically and socially viable. Change began in 2007 with MARS setting global targets for 2040, of ensuring that all the energy used is from a sustainable source, all the water used leaves the site in the same quality as when it arrived, and no waste is sent to landfills. In September 2017, after a decade of unparalleled progress towards achieving green operations and supply chain sustainability, MARS launched its global “Sustainable in a Generation” plan which aims at further enhancing sustainability across its entire supply chain.
In the UAE, MARS GCC has activated several initiatives to achieve its goals, such as using a 3rdParty Logistics, installing on-site, a waste incinerator, water treatment plant and rooftop solar panels, and insulating all its pipes to reduce energy usage for refrigeration purposes. The company is also in the process of switching from Freon to Ammonia chillers.
MARS GCC was the winner of the Manufacturing Supply Chain of The Year at the Logistics Middle East Awards which was adjudicated by an expert panel of industry consultants and training specialists.
