“Ajman Environment” Debates Climate Change, Sustainability In UAE, Worldwide
The Ajman International Environment Conference Ajman kicks off today under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman.
The annual congress, the fifth in a row, is held at the Sheikh Zayed Centre for Conferences and Exhibitions, Ajman University, on March 06-07, 2018, in the presence of 70 high profile researchers and experts from over 30 countries.
The summit is to shed light on major environmental issues, spanning scientific solutions to reduce the effect of climate change in the UAE, sustainability in government housing in the country, and a line-up of environmental issues in the GCC states, Arab countries and the world.
Climate Change & Sustainability
Eng. Khalid Moeen Al Hosani, Executive Director of the Public Health and Environment Sector at the Ajman Municipality and Planning Department, said the conference, themed: ‘Climate Change & Sustainability’, includes five major scientific sessions featuring 205 specialised scientific papers from a big number of renowned experts and lecturers from 49 countries all over world.
The first, chaired by Terrence Cooke, Director of Business Development, Science Target Inc., Canada, includes a keynote address on the ‘Climate Change and Smart Water Management’ by Prof. Banu Ormeci, Professor and Jarislowsky Chair in Water and Health, Director of Global Water Institute, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Carleton University, Canada.
An address on the ‘Solutions to Reduce the Effect of Climate Change in the UAE’ is to be delivered by Prof. Ali Sayigh, Chairman of WREC & Director General WREN, Chairman IEI and Med Green Forum, UK, while Prof. Nicholas Stow, Senior Planner in the Resiliency and Natural Systems Planning Unit at the City of Ottawa, in Ontario, Canada, Canada, is to lecture on ‘Resilience, Biodiversity, and Adaptation to Climate Change: the Ottawa Example’.
