57 UAE Children Win Big At International Competition
Triumphing over thousands of learners across 40 countries, 57 students from UAE brought laurels to the country by winning big at the 22nd International UCMAS Abacus and Mental Arithmetic Competition 2017 held in Malaysia recently. The contest, which assessed students on their agile arithmetic skills, involved answering a whopping 200 math problems in a matter of mere 8 minutes, by listening to the questions or through visuals, among other categories. In all, 62 children from UAE within the age bracket of 6 years to 13 years participated in the high-intensity, mentally stimulating contest, out of which 8 children bagged the 1st runners up award, while 13 and 36 children received the 2nd, or 3rd runners-up awards respectively.
Among the winners, special mention should be made of NikithaPrabhu, age 7 years, from UCMAS Dubai – Al Nahda, who won the first runnersup award in the Listening competition in CategoryA – the most challenging one. NikthaPrabhu was the sole UAE winner in the company of 400 international students in the Listening competition.
