450 Talented Choral Singers Take Part In ChoirFest Middle East’s 2019 Gala Concert At Dubai Opera
The biggest annual choral competition in the region, ChoirFest Middle East, celebrated its Gala Concert at Dubai Opera on Saturday. A record number of 500 choral singers took to the stage for the spectacular finale as 15 outstanding choirs from across the UAE and the region celebrated the seventh edition of Choirfest Middle East. With performances from this year’s school winners and finalists, along with exciting UAE-based choral groups and regional choirs, the evening celebrated the rich diversity of choral music.
The school choirs were joined by passionate singers from all over the world from as young as 6 to 76 years old with a dynamic range of all styles of music. With Choirs from across the UAE, Syria ‘Gardenia Choir’ and Jordan ‘Mosaica Singers’.
The 2019 Regional Choir of the Year winners and winners of the Best Single Voice category the all-female Syrian choir ‘Gardenia’ opened the festivities. Mosaica Singers from Jordan were crowned the 2019 Choir of the Year, whilst Dubai Camerata Singers were awarded the runner-up title and the Best A Cappella performance went to Dubai Duty Free Nightingales. A staggering 2,800 students from 55 schools took part in the competition, making it the biggest choral competition in the region.
